I strive to make sure people are growing and challenged in a way that motivates them to learn through action. I try to develop a culture centered around being curious and collaborative, where people can safely iterate their work to achieve success. When possible I try to make sure that people have the opportunity to work on tasks outside of their domain of expertise. My goal is to build a team that has a culture of mutual mentorship.
While at Roam Robotics, I grew and guided the engineering team from a handful of individuals into multiple product and systems groups of over 40 engineers with very diverse skills and experiences. I established company-wide practices such as adopting a ticketing and project management platform, software best practices, design reviews and a culture of open collaboration and cross-team communication. During the COVID lockdown, I drove efforts to keep teams connected and communicating effectively by establishing regular check-ins and drafting company wide communications and rules for accessing hardware.
I have forecast resourcing needs and have been responsible for making calls on where to allocate or remove staff as funds allow. I have been involved in hiring for roles of all kinds and established processes for gathering candidates and protocols for conducting interviews. I have experience guiding mechanical engineers, data scientists, frontend software engineers, embedded software engineers, controls engineers, project managers, product design, and softgoods designers.
